I am a professor at the University of Helsinki working at the intersection of evolutionary biology, macroecology, and computer science. I lead a research group developing computational methods for studying long-term change processes, including macroevolutionary dynamics, ecological transformations, and societal change. A core part of my work focuses on AI ethics, addressing robustness, bias and responsibility when AI is used in high-stakes contexts, including scientific reasoning.
